The son of a Derbyshire coal miner, Adrian started off his colourful career as a Police Officer in St Pauls, Bristol, leaving shortly after the St Paul’s riots to go ‘back to school’ and to be President of Southampton Students Drama, where he became heavily involved in comedy acting.
Fed up with being a poor student, he spent the next four years building up a highly successful dairy company from nothing by knocking on thousands of doors persuading families to buy his milk! Having established the dairy business he went to the USA on holiday but soon found himself working as a D.J and Lifeguard. On his return to the UK he worked as a radio presenter on local radio in Bristol.
To help ‘fund’ his career, Adrian started selling a wide range of products, ranging from frozen food to houses, he quickly discovered he could make some real money in sales and began to take selling seriously, the part time sales side soon took over as his full time career.
In 1987 he moved into I.T sales and by 1989 he had established himself as one of the most successful sales professionals in the industry.
After two extremely successful years as Corporate Sales Manager of US Robotics, he joined Northamber Plc an I.T Distributor as Group Sales and Training Manager responsible over a five year period for successfully recruiting, training, motivating and ‘driving’ 150 sales staff to achieve phenomenal success.
It was during this time that Adrian discovered his exceptional ability to inspire others and to build and develop teams from people of little or no ability or experience into some of the most productive in the I.T industry.
Fuelled by a desire to try to gain a better understanding of what makes certain people outrageously successful, he set about interviewing and researching some of the UK’s most successful people, ranging from business leaders to politicians and from show business celebrities to professional sports people.
This six years of research, combined with his colourful career and varied experiences, forms the basis of his fascinating and eye opening material that he puts across in such a simple, effective and entertaining way that most people can relate to.
As well as looking at motivation and arming people for success, Adrian also shares his ideas on the characters he has identified that exist in any team, company or organisation. They include amongst others: Neg Ferrets, Bloaters, Sinkers, Velcro People, Jaffa Cakes, Terry’s and Polar Bear Pirates. All of which most people will easily recognise!
Today, as well as being a Motivational Speaker, Adrian works as a consultant devising and implementing team building and motivational performance programmes for both sales and non sales environments. He also works with a select number of private business and sports clients as a personal development coach.
In his spare time, over the past few years, he has played several small roles in television and radio. He has also recently started writing parts for television and has done the odd TV ‘warm up man bit’ when his arm has been really twisted!
Adrian lives in Surrey, he is married to Louise and has three children who between them keep him motivated!
