As well as exclusive groups, corporate bookings and private hire (i.e.
"Team-building" days), we also cater for celebrations, such as birthdays,
anniversaries, bachelor parties, bridal showers and special reunions. Jean
Christophe takes you through his sumptuous award-winning dishes and we
match up wines with each course. And to cook with Jean-Christophe Novelli
is all part of the entertainment! The school's atmosphere lends itself to
fun, learning and participation. All private hire/corporate days are
different. Each company or group's requirements will always vary from
another's. We are here to help you enjoy your special day with minimum
fuss and we will work out with you what you need and what you require from
us.
A typical day will start with tea/coffee on arrival then introductions.
For corporate use we can split the group into two to create the healthy,
fun competition or we can leave you in a single group for a relaxed
cookery lesson.
Jean Christophe then guides the students through some of his famous
signature dishes and the day continues with a mix of demonstration,
practical cookery sessions, tips, discussions and of course tasting and
eating these magnificent meals from starter through to main and sweet. We
provide everybody with recipe cards so that you can easily recreate these
dishes at home.
Past, Present and Future
Jean Christophe Novelli is a Michelin and 5AA Rosette award winning
chef, whose attributes include AA Chef’s Chef of the Year, European Chef
of the Year finalist representing Great Britain and the prestigious Egon
Ronay Dessert of the Year. He has won restaurant of the year several times
and many other awards on numerous occasions. His Novelli Academy Cookery
School, where he personally takes all the courses, is placed in the top 25
in the world.
He is described as making women swoon with the flick of his whisk, voted
“The worlds Sexiest Chef” by New York Times and in the Sky viewers “Top 50
beautiful Men” poll.
Jean Christophe Novelli began his exciting career at the age of fourteen
as a baker in his home town of Arras, Northern France, becoming head
private chef to Elie de Rothschild in Paris before the age of 20.
Jean Christophe's life changed completely when he arrived in Great Britain
in 1983. Jean Christophe spent a year helping his mentor and best friend
Keith Floyd, taking care of his pub as head chef whilst Keith was filming
his famous TV Shows.
In 1996, Jean Christphe opened his first restaurant Maison Novelli in
Clerkenwell, London, followed quickly by Novelli W8, Novelli EC1 and Les
Saveurs in Mayfair. In addition to his mini empire, Jean Christophe also
launched Novelli at the Cellars; Cape Town's leading five-star Relais et
chateaux Hotel, Moulin de Jean in Normandy, France and was chef consultant
on Sea France Ferries. Over his career Jean Christophe has accumulated no
less than four consecutive Michelin Stars.
In recent years, Jean Christophe was Chef patron at Novelli at Auaberge du
Lac, Brocket Hall, Hertfordshire and also Novelli in the City, London
Capital Club. After a successful three year relationship and putting both
restaurants on the international map, Jean Christophe decided to move on
to new ventures.
Novelli Academy opened its doors in April 22nd 2005, being placed highly
in the ‘Top 25 Cookery Schools in the World' after a month. Jean
Christophe restored part of his 14th century Hertfordshire farmhouse to
accommodate Novelli Academy in his own home.
The Novelli Academy one-day courses are designed to appeal to all ages and
abilities novice or experienced. We at the Novelli Academy aim to make
cookery and wine appreciation accessible to everyone, and if this was not
enough Jean Christophe will personally guide you through the day and as a
fantastic entertainer, gregarious in nature and has an enormous sense of
fun that is not only contagious but instantly puts everybody at ease, we
guarantee to make this a day you will never forget!
Jean Christophe opened his first British gastro pub on Friday 13th January
2006. 'A Touch of Novelli' at The White Horse in Harpenden, Hertfordshire
this is one of many new Novelli gastro pubs planned around the country and
obtained rave reviews from diners, locals and celebrities alike.
Over the years, some of Jean Christophe's culinary accolades included ‘5
AA Rosettes’ ‘AA Chefs Chef of the Year’ 1998, ‘European Chef of the year'
competition representing Great Britain, ‘Face of the Future’ The Times
1986 ‘Newcomer of the year' Carlton TV Awards, Egon Ronay ' Dessert of the
year 1992' for his famous Jack-in-the-Box dessert, many times voted
‘Restaurant of the Year’, awarded on numerous occasions ‘Best Restaurant
of the Year outside London’.
He has been described as having the ability to make women "Swoon at the
flick of his whisk!" and Harpers & Queen in 1999 described Jean Christophe
as the "5th most alluring man in the world”, “World’s Sexiest Chef”(New
York Times) and voted by sky viewers one of the “Top 50 most beautiful
men”.
Jean Christophe's TV Career is going from strength to strength and will be
appearing frequently on British screens throughout 2007. The Hell's
Kitchen star who featured on British screen in a breathtaking endurance
documentary show 'Alive' which was filmed in extreme sub-zero temperatures
in the snow-capped Andes mountains, also appeared on the digital UKTV
'Food Uncut’ and not forgetting XFactor 'Battle of the Stars', 'Family
Fortunes', ‘Al Murray’, ‘Ant & Dec Saturday night takeaway’.
Jean Christophe can be seen this year in regular slots of 'The Richard and
Judy show', 'Saturday Cooks', ‘Soap star Super chef’ and not forgetting
'Daily Cooks'.
This year’s new and exciting ventures sees a range of Novelli Premium
Frozen meals by Findus these are available from Tescos & Sainsbury’s
Stores. Jean Christophe Novelli has worked very closely with Findus in
creating and developing this restaurant quality range of meals. Jean
Christophe has spent many days and nights in Newcastle at the Findus
Factory, ensuring every single product meets his high expectations at
every stage of development. Just some of the Premium dishes that will be
available are: Lasagna Novelli, Haddock Mornay, Lemon & Honey Roast
Chicken, Apple & Raisin Crepe Crumble with white chocolate brandy sauce &
toasted oats & White and Dark Crepe Chocolat.
We also see 'The Ultimate Range' Jean Christophe's Electrical kitchen
appliances being sold in leading retailers from July 2007.
A few more ventures for 2007:

• Jean Christophe's Wine will be available from May at a number of hotels,
Conference Centers and pubs in the UK.
• Jean Christophe's Premium Saucepans will be available from September
