Richard Scase

Prof. Richard Scase is author of the highly influential Britain 2010: The Changing Business Landscape 

In addition, Richard Scase is a regular broadcaster and writer, contributing to debate on key topical issues and how future socio-economic and global trends are likely to affect business strategies. Richard has recently been voted by Personnel Today as one of the top ten most influential people in Britain on personnel/human resource management.

Prof. Richard Scase business speakerRichard is also an entrepreneur, in the 1980's he set up a media company which, after going public, is now part of the Capital Group in the United Kingdom. In 1999, he established a B2B business, which provides on-line learning materials for corporate management development programmes.

Currently the Professor of Organisational Behaviour at the University of Kent at Canterbury. Richard is also an external examiner at the London Business School. He is visiting Professor at the University of London; the Institute of Advanced Studies, University of Tilburg, Netherlands; the University of Auckland, New Zealand and Monash University, Australia.

He has authored or co-authored twenty books, including Corporate Realities: the dynamics of large and small organisations and Managing Creativity. January 2002 will see the publication of Richard's latest book Surviving in the Corporate Zoo. Richard has recently started to write articles for the The Observer newspaper, he also writes for a wide range of academic and professional journals on various topics including the future of the organisation, the role of information technology in the transforming corporation, managing change (in particular, in fast growing companies), and developing core competencies. He is also pursuing research financed by the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) into future scenarios for Britain in the twenty-first century. He is the chair of the ESRC Committee established by the Government to look at future scenarios and to predict UK work patterns in the year 2010.

Professor Scase lectures widely in Britain, Europe and the United States, to corporate and political leaders, management and professional bodies.

Over the past two years he has specialised in corporate presentations, giving talks to senior level executives at company and industry-wide seminars, conferences and management development programmes. Most recently he has been in demand for his views on shifting work patterns and the future of employment structures the changing business environment, creative thinking in management and the impact in the internet.

He was the keynote speaker at the Financial Times/OSDE Conference in Buenos Aires, where he addressed more than 8,000 delegates on issues surrounding globalisation and management development. Other recent audiences he has addressed include British Telecom, Deutsche Telekom, Hewlett Packard, IBM, Senior Partners - Arthur Andersen, BP - Masterclass for Regional Directors, EDS, European Management Centre, Statoil, McCann Erickson, KPMG, Andersen Consulting, DTI and Glaxo Wellcome.

Richard regularly appears at management development programmes, chairing and facilitating corporate analysis. In addition, he offers specialist knowledge areas such as competing for the future, transforming the corporation and managing strategic change, His corporate research and consultancy reflect the analytical rigour and objectivity of a world renowned academic.
